Make your Own Liquid Watercolor Paint

Making your own Liquid Watercolors makes total sense. It is so easy to do, and very inexpensive. Liquid watercolors can be costly to buy, and if you use a lot of them, like we do, then it is really worth the – little – effort!

These homemade paints really work well. I would use them for any Art & Craft Project.

The advantage of making your own paint is that you get to decide how ‘much’ color you want to add. Add a little coloring for pastel shades or a tiny bit more for vivid colors – like the ones we made above!

Water & Liquid Food Coloring (you can use gel food coloring – but this requires extra stirring)

Shopping list: Liquid Food Coloring & Water Color Paper (A4) or these Water Color Postcards (affiliate link)

Add the desired amount of water – the amount of liquid watercolor paint you want to make.

Then to each container add a drop – or two – of food coloring. You are going to have to experiment a little with the colors – as food coloring differs. Make sure you add a drop at a time – food coloring is more powerful than you think!

NOTE: This paint may stain clothing – because of the food coloring – so make sure to wear aprons when painting!
