What is it about sweaters lol? They are one of my favorite things about fall/winter too! Having lived in Michigan though I must confess that southern Ohio is a little bit closer to perfect for me lol. Those winters are brutal! This sangria is gorgeous–pinning!

Oh, I hear ya! My sister is in Columbus and even being two hours from Cleveland {where I live} her weather is more mild. When we have snow in the winter she has none!! The one thing I do not like about the Midwest is the brutal winters. BUT, I could never live somewhere that doesn’t experience fall because it is hands down, my favorite season. A nice cozy sweater is the best.

Sangria in my opinion is the perfect libation for any party specially if using seasonal ingredients like apples, Lovely recipe!

Summer and fall rival each other as my favorite seasons. I am lucky to live in a place that has four seasons {sometimes in winter I hate those four seasons!}. Growing up in Michigan, fall was hands down my favorite season. In Michigan we always went apple picking, played outside in the crisp fall leaves and visited a local pumpkin patch to pick out our Halloween pumpkins. Every time fall rolls around, a really happy feeling sets over me.

I first fell in love with sangria when I spent a summer in Barcelona, Spain. Most of the sangria I had while there was red but I did sip on a few glasses of white sangria. I love how light, crisp and refreshing they are.

In Barcelona they have a street called Las Ramblas that is lined with restaurants, shops and in the center are little tables that you can sit and people watch, while drinking sangria and eating tapas. One of my favorite things to do was sit at one of those little tables with a plate of patatas braves and sip on a glass of sangria. Whenever I make sangria at home I am always reminded of my love for Spain, their food and vibrant culture.

Sparkling Apple Pear Sangria is not only a drink but a snack. Yup, dual purposes. You heard me right! While you are sipping the sangria I highly suggest you provide your guests with a spoon in case they want to snack on the fruit. That fruit gets soaked in the sweet juices and bubbles making it a party favorite.

When you make this sangria you can use whatever fruit you like. I find that pears and apples hold up really well in sangria and don’t get too mushy. You can use any variety of apples and pears. Sometimes I use Granny Smith for a little extra pucker, or Red Anjou Pears to add that beautiful red color. Get creative and mix things up, that is what keeps like interesting, right?
